After the awesome orienteering week in summer 2012 there had been a new edition of Bavarian Orienteering Tour in August 2018. Once more the orienteering clubs of Bavaria worked successfully together under the lead of the "Förderverein" (promotional club) of Bavarian Orienteering and presented the 350 participants an unforgettable orienteering and sightseeing experience in Bavaria.
In the period 10th to 15th August 2018 the five stages in Bamberg, Süssenbach, Passau, Regensburg and Landshut took place. Also numerous sightseeing trips and activities were organized. The event was once more a great success, the participants from 25 countries were really inspired and impressed.

In 2012 the World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC), one of the biggest annual orienteering events, took place in Germany for the very first time. Thousands of orienteers from all over the world fought for medals in their age classes in Bad Harzburg.
Six Bavarian orienteering clubs organized the "Bavarian Orienteering Tour" in the week before WMOC as a warm-up event. About 100 participants from all over the world (e.g. Australia, Brazil, Russia and Japan) experienced a great sportive and cultural journey through Bavaria with best weather conditions.
Orienteering in the morning, sightseeing in the afternoon - that was the concept of the tour. Besides six orienteering stages in interesting forest and park terrains plus a prologue, the runners were offered sightseeing tours in Munich, Landshut, Regensburg, Bamberg and Coburg. A boat trip on the Danube river with a sociable "Bavarian Evening" and the final "Franconian Evening" an a traditional brewery inn completed the exciting week.
